Planned Giving
Legacy gifts, or planned giving, are a way of making a contribution to the future of Symphony New Brunswick. They offer the unique opportunity to make a lasting contribution to Symphony New Brunswick while at the same time saving your estate considerable amounts in taxes. There are three ways to make a Legacy Gift to Symphony New Brunswick:
1. Bequests - You can make the Symphony a beneficiary in your will. Symphony NB will issue a tax receipt to your estate for the full amount of a bequest, which will provide income tax relief for your estate.
2. Gifts of Insurance - You can make Symphony New Brunswick the beneficiary of a life insurance policy (new or existing), and the premiums you pay each year become tax deductible because the Symphony is a registered charity. When you pass on, the Symphony collects the proceeds from the donated policy.
3. Outright Gifts – You can make gifts of cash, securities (publicly traded stocks and bonds) or real estate. SNB will issue receipts for income tax purposes for the total amount of the gifts of cash, and present value of the securities. Gifts of publicly traded stock (including options) are particularly attractive, because of recent changes to taxation laws. Consult your financial advisor for more information.
